The top three things we heard from health plan execs at AHIP

It’s only been a week since we all gathered at the the AHIP 2025 conference in Vegas but our team is already churning away at ideas, inspired by what we heard.

Rather than tapping into the latest trends, what was most important to the Anterior team was listening to the pain points of our customers. Because at the end of the day, technology will come and go, but being able to properly operationalize said technology is what’s more important.

Our team took some time to compare notes and the following three areas were key themes that kept popping up. These three themes will help shape our roadmap as we continue to build for our customers: health plan operators.

There are just too many solutions

A top feeling we heard from health plans was the overwhelm that comes from finding technology partners and solutions. There are simply too many. Tech stacks have expanded to a point where it’s become unmanageable, and rather than simplifying fragmentation, it’s making it worse. Some organizations are juggling hundreds of different solutions, many of which don't communicate well with each other and make interoperability difficult.

We hear you. Integration is built into how we operate. We don’t believe the answer is more tools, it’s better orchestration. That’s why we’ve built an API-first platform designed to serve as a workflow manager rather than another fragmented tool. We give plans the ability to design the workflows their teams need, then seamlessly connect to systems they already use. We do this by collaborating with you and our forward-deployed team of clinicians, engineers and industry operations experts to support deployment, training, and transformation from day one. The future of health plan operations isn’t about buying more software. It’s about building adaptive, intelligent workflows that can evolve with your team.

Data security is holding us back from implementing AI

To no surprise, we heard security come up a lot from health plans. But even more so, there was a specific worry about vendors potentially ticking security checkboxes without accountability for shortcuts. With compliance audits looming and member trust at stake, each mistake can build on the ones before it, ultimately jeopardizing both operations and reputation.

We hear you. Security and its successes and shortcomings should be discussed openly, with curiosity. That means data security and operational excellence are not checkboxes. They are required by design. At Anterior, trust is our highest currency. Health plans trust us with their data, their members, and their reputations. We will not betray that trust to hit a sprint goal, ship faster, or close a deal. When security, safety, or compliance is at risk, we hit pause, even if it’s painful.

Compliance and regulation are top-of-mind

AI is undeniably the future of healthcare technology, offering potential to streamline operations, enhance patient experience, and provide greater efficiency. However, with any new and transformative technology comes heightened scrutiny. Regulators are actively working to catch up, creating new frameworks and rules to make sure AI is used responsibly, ethically, and safely for members. This means there are more evolving regulations, guidelines, accreditations than ever before and we heard health plans express anxiety about missing the mark.

We hear you. We take great care to understand these and support our customers in regulatory efforts, compliance, audits. Safety and compliance is always at the center of what we do and help you navigate the web of it all.

Book some time with us today to find out what else is on our roadmap. We want to continue listening, iterating, and ultimately help members get the care they need.
